Lucy Houliston is a writer, speaker and digital content producer with a passion for odd animals and nature conservation. She’s currently studying Zoology at Royal Holloway University of London.
An experienced speaker, Lucy has delivered school talks internationally, co-chaired educational webinars, delivered presentations at virtual conferences and hosted live, digital events including Reserva’s Wild Trivia fundraiser and part of Exploring by the Seat of Your Pants’ International Sloth Day program.
Lucy enjoys using her digital production and storytelling skills as tools to raise funds for conservation projects. She co-produced and directed both of Reserva’s Concert for Conservation fundraising events, and worked as editor and live producer for Skomer LIVE, a series created to support the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales. In her role as Digital Content Producer for the Sloth Appreciation Society, Lucy seeks to generate public awareness and support for sloths and sloth conservation projects online through the creation of videos and written content for social media.
As a Media Officer and Youth Director for Reserva: The Youth Land Trust, Lucy is also working to educate and empower global youth and marginalised communities in land conservation, and assist in the creation of the world’s first entirely youth-funded nature reserve. She’s volunteered and written blog and magazine features for the RSPB, Scottish Seabird Centre, APPC, A Focus On Nature, and is a member of the London Wildlife Trust’s Young People’s Forum. Here, she helps develop initiatives to engage youth from disadvantaged and underrepresented backgrounds in local conservation efforts.
