About this session

This 4 day sprint is taking place in The Common Room, Newcastle, NE1 1SE

Regeneration of our water and environment needs system change. How can we connect the dots to deliver better outcomes for the environment and society?

Water resources, carbon, flood control, biodiversity, customer engagement – everything we want to do is interconnected. Systems thinking means we can join these challenges up and find solutions with multiple wins, creating more value at lower cost. An ambition for greater connectivity, more focus on social and community benefits, greater resilience and a longer term strategic vision are all increasingly reflected in policy agenda – such as the new Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP) consultation.

This sprint will work through a real problem and demonstrate practical ways of building systems thinking into our planning cycle and stakeholder engagement. We’ll map the systems we engage with to show the linked-up ways they work and how we can maximise the impact of the interventions we make. We’ll look at the metrics we use, we’ll bridge siloes and we’ll explore new ways of engaging others in fresh thinking.
